Refunds and payouts
Last updated 25 September 2026
When a buyer is charged
Only when they pay for a seat through Stripe Checkout. Nothing is charged for claiming a seat, for a logo awaiting approval, or for an offer. Nothing is reserved before payment either: a seat belongs to whoever pays for it first.
Ads
An Ad runs for the 1 to 4 weeks you paid for and ends on its own. Nobody can take it over, so there is no refund window and no outbid refund. The refunds under Other refunds below still apply.
Being outbid (Sponsor seats)
A Sponsor seat has no end date. It is held until somebody pays twice what its current sponsor paid, and that payment takes the seat.
- Every website has a refund window of 7, 14, 21 or 30 days, chosen by its owner. It is shown before you pay and fixed on your booking at that moment; the owner changing it later does not reach you.
- Displaced inside your window, you are refunded in full, automatically, including the platform fee. Not a share or a remainder: everything you paid.
- That refund is funded by the payment that displaced you, which is why the price doubles. No refund here depends on the seller having money available.
- The refund is issued as soon as the displacing payment is confirmed. If it cannot be issued for any reason, the amount stays owed and is retried until it is paid — it is never written off.
- Displaced at or after your window, there is no refund. You had the seat for at least the window you agreed to; the run is complete and the seller keeps the payment.
Other refunds
- If the seller does not run the sponsorship, the buyer is refunded in full, including the platform fee.
- If a sponsorship runs only partly, either side can report it in the deal room. An operator settles it with a proportional refund. A refund reverses the platform fee in the same proportion.
- If two buyers pay for the same seat and time, the first confirmed payment takes it and the second is refunded in full. Nothing is double-sold.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe and typically appear within 5 to 10 business days.
Payouts to sellers
- The seller receives the price paid less the 15% platform fee, in their connected Stripe account. They are paid again on every takeover, because a takeover is another sale.
- Sellers can be paid in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Switzerland, and the European Economic Area other than Iceland. Other countries will follow as our payment provider supports them.
- An Ad is paid out on the same rule as a Sponsor seat: once it has been live for seven days with a verified launch proof. For a one-week Ad that is the end of its run.
- A payout is released once the sponsorship has been live for seven days, a verified launch proof is on file, and there is no open issue. That week is the window in which an outbid refund is a clean reversal.
- A sponsor outbid inside their refund window is never paid out on: what they paid is owed back to them. A sponsor outbid after it is paid out like any finished run.
- An open issue stops the payout until an operator resolves it. A running sponsorship is not by itself a bank payout.
- Sellers are responsible for their own taxes on the amounts they receive.
Disputes and chargebacks
Raise a problem in the deal room first; it stops the payout and puts the booking in front of an operator. A card dispute raised with the bank is handled through Stripe and may take longer than a refund agreed here.
